You selected a database that has already been upgraded DBUA Error

Example to upgrade the database 11201 to 11204 version

Error: You selected a database that has already been upgrade

In my first attempt, I tried to upgraded my database, in between it failed, then i restored the complete database from backup and tried again with the dbua utility for upgrade.
On 2nd attempt with DBUA, i am getting the following error “You selected a database that has already been upgraded”, but in postupgrade it show me it failed in between steps and i completed restored and started from old version. its working properly.

Following is the snapshot of error on 2nd attempt

dbua

Solution
1. Before running the DBUA utility, we need to set the new Oracle Home setting.

SET ORACLE_HOME=New location of 11204
SET ORACLE_SID=
SET PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\bin;%PATH%

2. If you are doing 2nd attempt then you need to clear the folder which caused the DBUA utility to show the same message “You selected a database that has already been upgraded”

--Clear the following location:
%ORACLE_BASE%\cfgtoollogs\dbua

-- Start the dbua utility again
#DBUA

3. Hopefully it will fixed the issue.
