Enable and disable database vault in Oracle 12c

Enable the database vault in Oracle 12c

  1. Login with database vault owner user dvowner.
conn dvonwer/dvowner

2. Enable the database vaule with following package.

SQL> exec dbms_macadm.enable_dv;

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

3. Check Oracle Label Security is enabled or not.

SELECT VALUE FROM V$OPTION WHERE PARAMETER = 'Oracle Label Security';

4. If Oracle Label Security is disable then run the following command to enable it.

CONNECT / as sysdba
EXEC LBACSYS.CONFIGURE_OLS;
EXEC LBACSYS.OLS_ENFORCEMENT.ENABLE_OLS;

5. Restart the Oracle Database.

Connect / as sysdba
Shutdown immediate;
Startup

6. Verify the database vault is enabled.

SQL> SELECT value FROM V$OPTION WHERE PARAMETER = 'Oracle Database Vault';

VALUE
----------------------------------------------------------------
TRUE

Disable the Database vault in Oracle 12c

  1. Disable the database vault by login with dv owner user.
Connect dvowner/dvowner
EXEC DBMS_MACADM.DISABLE_DV;

2. Restart the database with sysdba user to make changes effect.

connect / as sysdba
shutdown immediate
startup

3. Verify the database vault disabled.

SQL> SELECT value FROM V$OPTION WHERE PARAMETER = 'Oracle Database Vault';
VALUE
---------------------------------
FALSE
