Authentication Mechanism for login in Oracle Database

Two Authentication mechanism are configured in Oracle Database for connecting purpose.

1. Operating System Authentication
2. Password file Authentication

Following parameter need to set for Operating system Authentication

1. In the init.ora file set the remote login password file parameter.
REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=NONE

2. In sqlnet.ora file present in %ORACLE_HOM%/network/admin location
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NTS)

Following parameter need to set For Password file authentication

1. In the init.ora file, Set the remote login password file parameter:
REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=EXCLUSIVE

2. In the sqlnet.ora file, present in %ORACLE_HOME%/network/admin location.
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NONE)

3. Create a password file at default location.
orapwd file=c:\oracle\11.2.0\dbhome_1\database\pwd.ora password=xxxx
