Backup large datafile parallel and limit size of backupset in RMAN

MAXSETSIZE
MAXSETSIZE parameter is used to limit the size of backup pieces. Sometime issue occurred when it’s exceeds the maximum file size for the Management backup software or tape or file system limit. You can manage the backup file size with this clause.

Example:
Limit the backup set size generated from RMAN to 100M size.

BACKUP DEVICE TYPE sbt
MAXSETSIZE 100M
ARCHIVELOG ALL;

SECTION SIZE
SECTION SIZE parameter is used the multisection backup. RMAN create a backup piece contains block from one file section(Continuous range of blocks in a file).
It is mainly used for large file, We can take backup of large file parallel by using the SECTION SIZE clause. RMAN each channel backing up one file section in a file.
Note: You can also take parallel backup of big tablespace in Oracle.

Example
1. Take full backup of database with SECTION SIZE clause.

BACKUP
INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0
DATABASE
SECTION SIZE 1G;

2. Take tablespace backup

BACKUP SECTION SIZE 300M TABLESPACE users;

Error:
If MAXSETSIZE value may be too small to contain the largest file then RMAN uses the size of the original datafile rather than the file size after compression.
RMAN displays an error stack such as the following:

RMAN-06182: archive log larger than MAXSETSIZE: thread 1 seq 1
C:\archive\ORCLarchive0001.dbf
